Johan Adam Linneballe
Born in Copenhagen in 1947. He has worked as a visual artist since the age of 14 or 15—when he stopped drawing "children’s drawings"—while simultaneously pursuing a career as a designer and logo creator, running his own business for over 40 years. Over the last 10–20 years, his artistic practice has intensified, now occupying the majority of his time. Throughout the years, he has held numerous exhibitions, including shows for corporate art associations and at galleries such as Buchelhax in Silkeborg, Galleri Sonne, as well as multiple exhibitions at Knus Grothe and Galleri C7. Currently, his work is available exclusively through Baggårdsprint, though he has plans for further exhibitions in the coming years. “Transformations” The series *Transformations* consists of more than 100 works, with new pieces continually being added. Transformations are “thorough changes to someone or something” (reshaping, alteration, modification). Transformations are the defining characteristic of our era, which is undergoing a profound paradigm shift across so many domains. Values, narratives, meanings, forms of expression, opinions—everything is undergoing some degree of change. My paintings explore these shifts—from one situation or meaning to an entirely different one. Some occur suddenly, while most remain in a state of flux. What existed before no longer holds its original meaning; instead, it may reappear as traces or shadows within entirely new images—images that find their expression in a purely abstract realm. It is a world of colors, shapes, and emotions—where new meanings can, for now, only be sensed. All my titles are in English—the modern world and its concepts are English-language based. “Fleurs du Mal”: *Fleurs du Mal*—which translates to *Flowers of Evil*—is a series of images inspired by the famous poetry collection of the same name by the French author Baudelaire. Flowers are not merely “beautiful nature”; they can be many things: carnivorous, artificial, withered, or metaphors for something entirely different. In this series, I work with varying scales and different forms of reality, constructing new images that serve as the starting point for entirely new experiences.
