Bent Larsen
Born in Copenhagen in 1953. I trained as a primary school teacher, specializing in subjects including visual arts; prior to this, my time at the Folk Art School in Holbæk inspired me to develop a visual language. Later, I transitioned into a role as a graphic and communications officer for an association that operated independent daycare institutions. In this capacity, I utilized visual media for the production of magazines and books, and applied graphic design principles to the layout of documents. In recent years, I have participated in various courses and residencies focused on fine art photography. Today, I am a member of the photographic workshop "Downstairs" and the graphic arts workshop "Biblioteket" on Rentemestervej. I have chosen photography as a primary medium of expression, and I am constantly seeking new ways to depict the world around me. This perpetual quest to express myself through a visual language serves as the driving force behind my creative practice. Engaging with photography leads to new discoveries, impressions, experiences, and journeys, as well as life-affirming encounters—all of which, in turn, inspire my graphic work. In the spring of 2025, I held my first major solo exhibition, featuring a fine art photography project. The works explore the interplay between pure photographic imagery—typically in an abstract form—and solid fields of color created using image-processing software. Through this process, a new image emerges within a graphic framework. You can view more of my work on my website: www.bentl.dk
